Cadmium Stress Stimulates Nitric Oxide Production by Wheat Roots
Study was conducted to elucidate the nitrite-dependent nitric oxide (NO) production by wheat roots grown in hydroponics under cadmium (Cd) stress. In a long-term Cd exposure experiment, plants were grown for 4 weeks under 1 μM Cd. The root Cd concentration in the Cd-stressed plants was 2.5 mM compared to 0.1 mM in the untreated plants. Most of the Cd taken up by plants was restricted to roots w...
متن کاملDiiodidobis(triphenylphosphine oxide)cadmium
In the title compound, [CdI(2){(C(6)H(5))(3)PO}(2)], the Cd(II) atom is ligated by two I atoms and two O atoms from two triphenyl-phosphine oxide ligands in a disorted tetra-hedral arrangement. While the O-Cd-I angles vary from 106.67 (7) to 111.23 (7)°, the O-Cd-O angle is 88.60 (10)° and the I-Cd-I angle angle is 125.47 (2)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by van der Waals forces only.
متن کاملEffects of Silymarin on Cadmium-Induced Toxicity in Rats
Background: Cadmium has toxicological significance and there is no effective therapy for its poisoning. Objective: The effects of silymarin on the parameters indicative of cadmium-induced toxicity were studied in rats. Methods: 130 adult male Wistar rats were divided into 13 groups each comprising 10 rats. 1 group as control group was not administered neither cadmium nor silymarin. Ca...
متن کاملEffects of cadmium exposure and intermittent anoxia on nitric oxide metabolism in eastern oysters, Crassostrea virginica.
Nitric oxide (NO) is an intracellular signaling molecule synthesized by a group of enzymes called nitric oxide synthases (NOS) and involved in regulation of many cellular functions including mitochondrial metabolism and bioenergetics. In invertebrates, the involvement of NO in bioenergetics and metabolic responses to environmental stress is poorly understood. We determined sensitivity of mitoch...
